Today I present to you an initiative that I loved, an initiative that seems wonderful to me. This is a project launched by the Danish toy brand Lego with the aim of helping children learn braille through play.
These Braille tokens have been tested for some time now in Danish, Norwegian, English and Portuguese schools. Throughout the year they will also be evaluated in German, Spanish and French schools.
The final versions of these “Braille kits” will be distributed for free in 2020 between the organizations involved in the testing phase.
Each set of Braille cards will contain approximately about 250 pieces covering the complete alphabet, the numbers from zero to nine, a part of the mathematical symbols, symbols to inspire the educational process and interactive games.
According to John Goodwin, executive director of the Lego Foundation: “With this project we are providing a fun and inclusive approach to helping children learn braille. I hope that children, parents, caregivers, teachers and professionals around the world are as excited as we are, we can’t wait to see the positive impact of this game.”
